Negotiations on expanding the Black Sea Grain Corridor will begin in a week, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Yuriy Vaskov said on Friday.
“Negotiations on extending the grain corridor will begin in a week, and then we will understand the positions of all parties,” Vaskov said at the grain conference. “I think that common sense will prevail and the corridor will be widened.”
The Black Sea Grain Initiative, brokered by the UN and Turkey last July, allowed grain exports from Ukrainian ports blocked by Russia after its invasion of Ukraine.
Expanding its use is vital not only for Ukraine, which managed to limit the economic downturn to 30% in 2022, but also for the global food industry, especially for grain supplies to African countries.
