In a statement, Bruce Willis’ family expressed “deepest gratitude for the incredible love and support we have all received since sharing Bruce’s initial diagnosis.” And continues what is now “a deeper understanding of what he is experiencing“.
“Since we announced the diagnosis of aphasia to Bruce in the spring of 2022, his condition has progressed and now we have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD); Unfortunately, communication problems are just one of the symptoms of the disease he is dealing with. While it’s painful, finally getting a clear diagnosis is a relief.”
The family stressed that frontotemporal dementia is the most common form of dementia in people under the age of 60: “Today there is no cure for this disease and we hope this reality can change in the coming years,” the statement said.
