American pharmaceutical company Viatris announced the cessation of sales Viagra (a drug for the treatment of erectile dysfunction) in Russia, he told the news agency Interfax Ministry of Industry and Trade.

At the same time, the Ministry of Russia reported that the technological feasibility of producing the corresponding drug with the active chemical substance sildenafil was ensured.

Preparations based on this substance are produced by other companies. According to the State Register of Medicines, more than 40 registration certificates for drugs with this active ingredient have been issued in Russia. Eight companies produce sildenafil in Russia, and these drugs are available in pharmacies, the ministry said.

As part of the state program, the Ministry of Industry and Trade assures that the plan for organizing and conducting clinical trials of the drug with sildenafil in the form of tablets is supported. It has been approved and is being sold as usual, the Ministry of Industry and Trade added.

According to the results of three quarters of 2022, the production of drugs based on sildenafil in Russia increased by 11%, and sales – by 15%, Interfax reports.
