Russian forces have been ordered to advance on several fronts in eastern Ukraine, but in none of them have they mustered enough offensive combat power to have a decisive effect, according to a British intelligence brief posted on Twitter by the UK Department of Defense.
It was recorded that over the past three days, the forces of the Wagner group “almost certainly” achieved new small successes in the northern outskirts of the city of Bakhmut, in the Donbass, including the settlement of Krasnaya Gora. However, organized Ukrainian defense in the area continues. The report added that the Russian tactical advance south of the city probably made little progress.
In the north, in the Kremina-Svatov region of the Luhansk region, British intelligence believes that Russian troops are conducting a continuous offensive operation, although any local offensive remains too weak to achieve any significant success.
The latest military intelligence report on the situation in Ukraine is February 14, 2023.

“It is likely that Russia is seeking to reverse some of the gains made by Ukrainian forces in September and November 2022: there is a real possibility that their immediate goal will be to move west to the Zerebets River,” London estimates, referring to a tributary of the Donets, which flows into to the western Donbass, in the area of the city of Liman liberated by the Ukrainians in autumn.
“In general, the current operational picture shows that Russian forces are ordered to attack in most directions, but they have not accumulated enough offensive combat power in any direction to achieve a decisive result,” the British Ministry of Defense said in a summary.
