Almost simultaneously, the UN announced that Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths would travel this weekend to the affected areas of Turkey and Syria.

Griffiths will travel to Gaziantep in southern Turkey and Aleppo in northwestern Syria. During this visit, he will also meet “with the authorities of the Syrian capital of Damascus.”
