
The Cypriot mission, which was supposed to help rescue victims of the devastating earthquake, still did not fly to Turkey, said Cypriot Foreign Ministry spokesman Dimitris Dimitriou, Turkey notified the European Civil Protection Mechanism that its needs – at least for the moment – are covered.
In a conversation with RIK, Mr. Dimitriou said that the Republic of Cyprus approached this issue exclusively from its human-oriented side and was ready to help from the very beginning, without the slightest political dimension. The Cypriot delegation, which was preparing to leave for Turkey, consisted of 17 people.
