According to CNN, Russian shelling is intensifying in parts of the Kharkiv region, recaptured by Ukrainian forces last September, as well as in other areas in northern Ukraine.
Kharkiv, Shum and Luhansk regions
The head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleg Synegubov, said that two civilians were killed in the village of Dvorichna, east of Kharkiv. Russian troops are taking positions on the eastern bank of the nearby Oskil River.
Further north, near the border with Russia, five people were injured as a result of Russian shelling of the city of Vovchansk, which is regularly shelled, according to Sinegubov.
“At least seven residential buildings and two private residential buildings were damaged by artillery shelling in Vovchansk,” he said in Telegram.
Over the past month, the front lines along the regional border in Kharkiv and Luhansk have suffered several Russian bombings.
Also, the Ukrainian military reported on Wednesday that more than 30 settlements in the Kharkiv and Shum regions were shelled, and part of the shelling was conducted from the territory of Russia.
On Wednesday evening, in the Seredyna-Buda region, which is right next to the border with Russia, the occupiers continued to shell the border of the Sumy region with mortars 12 times, reports the Northern Operational Command. No casualties have been reported.
Donetsk region / Russians advance on Bakhmut
In the daily report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it is said that the Russian troops used airstrikes to support the ground troops near Bakhmut, and almost a dozen settlements in the area were subjected to artillery fire.
In the unofficial Telegram account of servicemen of the Ukrainian 46th Brigade, who have been in the Bakhmut area for several weeks, it is reported that the Russians have entered the highway northwest of the city and fighting is ongoing there.
The General Staff also said that the airstrikes were carried out along other sections of the front line in the Donetsk region, to the southwest of the Russian-controlled city of Donetsk.
In recent weeks, the area has seen intense fighting involving tanks and artillery as Russian forces tried to break through Ukrainian defenses.
Kherson region
According to the Ukrainian military, there were also shelling of towns and villages in the recently liberated areas of Kherson in the south. It lists 10 districts that were bombed, including the city of Kherson.
The military also said that the Russians “carry out infiltration measures against the civilian population” in the occupied parts of Kherson. Filtering measures involve detention and deportation to the territory of Russia.
“First of all, we are talking about those who worked in Ukrainian state institutions and who refuse to cooperate with the Russian occupation administration and go to work. The occupiers are also threatening those who do not receive Russian passports by March, they will automatically be subjected to filtering measures,” the army said.
Attacks of the Ukrainian army
The Ukrainians said that they continue to shell Russian military centers behind the front line.
“During the past 24 hours, the Air Force of the Defense Forces made 21 strikes on the areas of concentration of personnel and military equipment of the occupiers and 3 strikes on the positions of anti-aircraft missile systems. …Two troop concentration areas, an ammunition depot and a fuel and oil depot,” the General Staff said in a statement, CNN reports.
