British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace is considering which aircraft could be offered to Ukraine, but Downing Street said no decision has yet been made on whether to provide the aircraft.

“I think you can see from the steps we are taking that we are ready to put Ukraine in a position where, as soon as we achieve our pilot training goals, they can fly these types of aircraft,” the official spokesman said. of the Prime Minister, reports PA Media.

“We have not yet decided whether to send British fighter jets. Obviously, there is an ongoing discussion between other countries regarding their own fighter jets, some of which are more similar to the ones Ukrainian pilots are used to.”

“We have confirmed that there will be a training program for Ukrainian pilots, and the Minister of Defense is actively considering whether we will send planes,” the spokesman added.

Britain earlier announced an immediate increase in military supplies to Ukraine to help it fight a Russian offensive and promised to train pilots to fly “sophisticated NATO-standard fighter jets in the future”.

But the Prime Minister’s spokesman, Rishi Sunaka, told reporters that no decision has been made to supply Ukraine with fighter jets.

“The prime minister instructed the defense minister to investigate what aircraft we could provide, but to be clear, this is a long-term solution, not a short-term capability that Ukraine needs most now,” Reuters also writes.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, who is visiting Britain on Wednesday, said he would do everything he could to convince the world to provide Ukraine with the modern aircraft Kiev needs to help its military defeat Russia.

“We … will do everything possible and impossible for the world to provide us with modern aircraft to provide energy and protect the pilots who will protect us,” Zelensky told hundreds of MPs at Westminster Hall in London.

He referred to the British monarch, King Charles, who is a pilot, and said that in Ukraine, all fighter pilots are considered kings “because there are so few of them, they are so valuable.”

Zelensky then presented Speaker of the House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle with a fighter pilot helmet with the inscription “We have freedom, give us wings to protect it.”
