France and Italy are going to send spring to Ukraine the SAMP/T-MAMBA medium-range air defense system, which will help the country “defend itself against Russian attacks with drones, missiles and fighter jets,” the French Defense Ministry said today.
“The deployment of such a system is a response to the request of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov to his colleagues in France and Italy.“, the message says.
USA they also announced today a new $2.175 billion military aid package that includes a new longer-range missile that will potentially allow the Ukrainian military to hit targets hitherto out of range.
Defense Department spokesman Patrick Ryder told reporters that the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) fired ground-launched small diameter bombs (GLSDB) with a range of 150 kilometers.
This package will also include mine-resistant armored personnel carriers (MRAPs), multiple launch rocket systems (GMLRS), spare parts and various types of ammunition.
The US has already sent about $27.2 billion worth of military aid to Ukraine since Russia invaded the country on February 24, 2022.
