
The European Union’s next package of sanctions against Russia will hit trade and technology that supports its war against Ukraine, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Friday, Reuters reported.
“Our 9 sanctions packages are strong, and the 10th is on the way. Together with our partners, we must deprive Russia of the means to kill Ukrainian civilians and destroy homes and offices,” von der Leyen said on Twitter.

Von der Leyen said the new sanctions package would amount to about 10 billion euros, and the bloc aims to release it by February 24, the anniversary of the Russian invasion, according to CNN.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi on Friday at a press conference after the summit with the EU called on the EU bloc to apply sanctions to prevent Russia from restoring its military potential.
The European Union (EU) said on Friday it wants to find a way to use frozen Russian assets in Western countries to finance the reconstruction of Ukraine, a measure demanded by Kyiv but which is legally difficult to implement, AFP reported.
“The EU will step up (…) its efforts to use frozen Russian assets to support the recovery of Ukraine (…), in accordance with European and international law,” European Council President Charles said in Michel’s press release. and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen after the summit in Kyiv with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
