Syria: 11 soldiers killed in jihadist attacks in Idlib

Eleven Syrian soldiers were killed today in two attacks launched by the jihadist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a former branch of al-Qaeda in SyriaThis is reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Both attacks took place in the province of Idlib. From the first time, eight soldiers were killed against the military outpost near Kafr Rum. A short time later, three more soldiers were “killed by sniper fire” near Kafr Nabul, a settlement located near Kafr Ruma.

The official Syrian media did not report anything about these two attacks.

About half of the province of Idlib and parts of the neighboring provinces of Hama, Aleppo and Latakia are controlled by Khayar Tahrir al-Sham and other less powerful rebel groups.

Since the end of 2022, the HTS has intensified shelling of the positions of the army of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Idlib after the “rapprochement” of Syria with Turkey, commented the director of the Observatory, Rami Abdel Rahman. About three million people live in this region, half of whom are displaced from other provinces.
