Russian diplomacy on Wednesday called “absurd” the fact that French President Emmanuel Macron can say that the supply of weapons to Ukraine is not an escalation, reports AFP.

“This is absurd,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told the press.

“Is the French president really sure that supplying the Kyiv regime with heavy weapons and aircraft will not lead to an escalation of the situation?” she added.

“I can’t believe that this is the logic of an adult,” Zakharova continued.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was asked at a press conference about Emmanuel Macron’s statements on Monday regarding the possible supply of fighter jets to Ukraine.

The French president emphasized that every decision on the supply of weapons must meet three “criteria”, including “not to lead to escalation” and “not to be likely to hit the territory of Russia.”

“By definition, nothing is excluded,” Macron said.

France announced on Tuesday that it would supply Ukraine with 12 Caesar guns in addition to the 18 of the same type that had already been delivered, but Paris is refusing to supply the Leclerc tanks at this stage.
