OUR Qatar Energyenergy giant of Qatar, officially enters its energy program Lebanonreplacing Russian Novatekwith the blessing of American mediator Amos Hochstein.
The corresponding agreement was signed on Sunday in Beirut with the French Total Energy and Italian Eni. OUR Qatar Energy occupied 30% of the shares of Blocks 4 and 9, while h Total Energy and Eni they will have 35%.
It is reminded that Israel and Lebanon last year they reached a “historic” agreement to delimit their maritime zones after US mediation. This agreement has been called “historic” because it concerns two countries that are officially at war and do not have diplomatic relations.
QatarEnergy’s entry into Lebanon’s energy program now follows recent developments as yet another “step forward”, as Amos Hochstein himself points out in a Twitter post.
Congratulations #Lebanon on @qatarenergy join as an investor @any @TotalEnergies. We welcome additional new investment in the Lebanese energy sector and another example of progress in the maritime agreement. @Najib_Mikati @usembassybeirut pic.twitter.com/O2qnMG7wJm

However, it is worth noting that the schedule of movements from now on in the seas of Lebanon for 2023 is not yet clear. According to one scenario, drilling could start this year at Block 9.
