Starovoit noted that “it is necessary to provide comprehensive support for the reception, deployment and deployment of additional forces” after Ukrainian forces have been shelling the region since February 24.

On January 29, he reported that Ukrainian troops shelled the Kursk region with mortars, damaging power lines in the area. According to Starovoit, two villages were left without electricity due to the alleged attack. He noted that there were no victims.

Ukraine does not comment on the alleged attack.

Kyiv has repeatedly warned that Moscow may try to seize part of northeastern Ukraine, noting increased military activity in Belarus, which is located approximately 200 kilometers west of the Kursk region, the Kyiv Independent reports.

On January 27, the Secretary of the National Security Council Oleksiy Danilov said that Moscow is preparing a new wave of attack on Ukraine on February 24, exactly one year after the start of the full-scale invasion of Russia.

Danilov also stated that Russian troops were training to “cross the borders” of Ukraine’s Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
