
An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck Saya County, Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at 07:49 am Monday (local time; 01:49 GMT), China’s official Xinhua news agency reported, citing the China Seismology Center.Networks.
According to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.8 on the Richter scale.
The depth of the earthquake was 50 kilometers, and its epicenter was in a deserted, inaccessible area. This was felt in residential areas, where, however, no casualties or serious property damage were reported, the agency always reports.
According to the same source, the operation of power grids, oil and gas and petrochemical facilities in the area was not affected.
