The Russian army is looking for new recruits after suffering a series of military defeats, and the Kremlin is preparing for an offensive in the spring, and in this context, all college students will undergo mandatory military training starting in the fall. He evaluates the British Ministry of Defense about this in his newsletter published on Twitter.

The initiative was announced in December by Russia’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education, but few details were known at the time.

According to the British spy service, the course, titled “Basics of Personal Security,” consists of “training with AK-series assault rifles and grenades, military and rescue exercises and the use of personal protective equipment,” News.ro cited.

This is not the first time that young Russians are forced to learn the art of war and the use of weapons.

Such training was mandatory in Russian schools before the collapse of the Soviet Union.

This continued until the constitutional crisis of 1993, which after ten days of bloody confrontations led to the replacement of the Soviet Constitution of 1978.

While the Ukrainians are multiplying requests for the supply of weapons from the West, Russia hopes to teach future Russians.

Almost a month before the anniversary of the war in Ukraine, the British Ministry of Defense believes that this initiative “underlines the increasingly militarized atmosphere” of the Kremlin.

The same program of “basic military training” for students was announced by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia.
