
At least 307 places of worship were damaged or completely destroyed. Russian bombing since the beginning of the war, according to the Ukrainian Service for National Policy and Freedom of Conscience.
Among the buildings destroyed or damaged in Ukraine, five synagogues and five mosques, the ministry said. The remaining 297 destroyed places of worship are Christian churches.
Almost half of the damaged churches (142 out of 297) belong to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (part of the Moscow Patriarchate).
Most of the damaged churches are located in Donetsk and Lugansk regions – 75 and 59 respectively. 43 churches in the Kiev region and 38 in the Kharkov region were damaged.
