A video recording of an incomprehensible maneuver of a Russian tank, as a result of which several Moscow soldiers were shot down, caused a wave of irony in social networks.
Although the footage is rather blurry, it shows what appears to be a “rescue operation” that did not go according to the Russian military’s plan. Several Russian soldiers can be seen waiting in a decommissioned armored vehicle for the arrival of a tank, presumably sent to pick them up.
By the way, two more heavily damaged armored vehicles of the Russian army can be seen nearby. But the footage shows how the tower of the rescuer tank goes out of control of the Russian tankers, spins in all directions and knocks the soldiers to the ground who were quietly waiting to be lifted aboard the combat vehicle.

What happens next seems even more surprising: Russian soldiers took her away at high speed after only a few seconds as they seemed to stand there to puzzle over what had just happened. Around 2:20 a.m., two Russian servicemen who were still inside the damaged car are seen getting out of it and starting to run away.
Some netizens speculated that the tank in question could actually be Ukrainian, given that both armies have many models inherited from the Soviet era, and referred to a video that appeared on social media last April and which captured another seemingly inexplicable moment: a group of Ukrainian soldiers being mowed down at close range by an approaching Russian tank without any warning signal.
But this does not explain why the tank in the new footage does not open fire with a machine gun when approaching a group of Russian soldiers. Also, at no time in the footage does it appear that the tank opened fire, and the Russian soldiers begin to flee when the combat vehicle is perpendicular to them (the machine gun inside the tank is in the front).
Given that the drone filming the scene also did not record audio, one possibility is that the Russian soldiers heard gunfire or explosions nearby, although they are in no way visible in the video. But this does not explain why the Moscow military rushed to run in the opposite direction from their own tank instead of trying to cover it.
The Russian army is the target of a new wave of ironies in social networks
Undoubtedly, the video drew a lot of sharp comments on social media, with many commenters on Twitter joking that the scene was set against the background of the Russian tankers drinking alcohol.
“What the hell? There are no police officers around when you need to stop a drunk driver,” one Twitter user noted, while another asked if “vodka was driving?”.
“Two weeks at the tank’s driving school paid off!” quipped another comment, to which the response was “let’s be honest, he just got his rookie credentials.”

“When you learn how to drive a tank in War Thunder,” another user tweeted, referring to the popular tank video game.
“The second military power in the world,” said another, while another user of the social network noted that “the Russian operation is going according to plan!”
“And the Leopard and Abrams tanks haven’t even arrived,” concludes one of the users.
Other netizens also recalled another video that appeared on social media at the end of October last year, in which a Russian armored vehicle crashes into a line of mines, although it was clearly visible on the road.
This recording, in turn, caused numerous comments about the alleged drunken state of Russian tankers.
