
The detention of Francesco Giorgi and Nicolò Figa-Talamanca, two suspects of criminal organization and corruption for QatarGate, has been extended by another month, according to a decision by the Belgian Pre-trial Council.
The statement of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office of Brussels, in particular, says the following:
“In the context of a large-scale investigation by the Federal Prosecutor’s Office on suspicion of a criminal organization, corruption and money laundering, F.T. and N. FT-T. appeared this morning before the Council of the Chamber of the Court of First Instance of Brussels.
In an order issued this afternoon, the council chamber confirmed the preventive detention of F.T. and N.F.-T.
If this decision is appealed within 24 hours, the persons concerned will face an indictment before the Brussels Court of Appeal within fifteen days.
In the interests of the investigation, no further information will be released at this time. The press will be informed of new developments in a press release.”
