German Chancellor Olaf Scholz finally announced Germany’s decision to send a company of 14 formidable Leopard 2 tanks to help Ukraine. But not before creating a real drama on the international stage that lasted for months.

And this has once again left Germany in the position of a major power bent on offending Russia, and NATO allies must pray with heaven and earth for military support when needed.

This is not an isolated episode. Germany’s behavior towards Ukraine has also received a nickname, which comes from the name of its chancellor and the way he makes decisions: “Scholzing”. A sarcastic verb coined on social media means to convey good intentions only to then find or invent reasons to delay or prevent those intentions from happening.
