Last Saturday, January 21, was World Hug Day. Elon Musk he said to finally give in to the entreaties of the Cypriot YouTuber, who literally “chased” him and hugged him.

The reason is Fidias Papaioannou, who managed to realize his “dream” and hug the boss of Tesla, SpaceX and Twitter after 3-4 months of effort, after even camping outside the premises and offices of said companies.

I’ve been trying for over 3 months now.

The search for Phidias began over 1.5 years ago when he decided to hug 100 of his favorite people (or, as he puts it, “the 100 most famous people in the world”, although most of them are his “comrades” on YouTube, better known in the United states).

And while the first 99 goals were relatively easy, it took months of waiting to meet Elon Musk in person. Many times it has been left on the road or outside Tesla and SpaceX facilities in the middle of the desert.

His efforts have gone viral and many have taken to social media to support him, often harassing members of the billionaire’s family.

In fact, his mother, May Musk, reported that the Cypriot YouTuber’s supporters threatened her via Instagram. “Please don’t let Phidias get close to my son,” she tweeted.

The highlight was that some of the kids who were on the official podium with Elon Musk during the World Cup finals asked him to meet Phidias Papaioannou. This attempt seems to have convinced the businessman.

Whoever insists wins

All this time, as already mentioned, the young Cypriot spent the night in “lodging” near the facilities and offices of Musk’s companies, although several times – thanks to the recognition he received – he received guests in houses.

He even managed to cross paths with the billionaire CEO, but never got close to him.

In the end, the meeting was organized on World Hug Day. Musk’s bodyguard texted Phidias to come to the Los Angeles Twitter office alone, without a bag and with only his cell phone turned off.

During the meeting, Musk was seen looking curiously at the YouTuber as he expressed his admiration for his face, followed by the famous hug.
