In the video, you can see how military personnel of the GUR use boats to force the Dnipro at night, according to Kyiv, the operation took place on the night of January 23-24. The footage shows Russian defenders firing at the landing party throughout the crossing.

Then, around 00:40, Ukrainian elite troops managed to land ashore, immediately making contact with Russian forces and engaging in an intense exchange of fire. Then, at 01:11, drone footage shows Russian positions being blasted with heavy weapons.

Other footage taken by Ukrainian drone operators from 01:45 shows the third part of the mission, the return of the GUR troops to the other shore, and numerous shells fired by Russian defenders can be seen falling in the water. . Some of them, however, appear to have been released to cover fire by the Ukrainian military on the other side of the Dnieper.

The footage then shows a Ukrainian soldier receiving first aid in one of the boats during the retreat from the other bank, before ending with other drone footage showing damage to Russian positions during the morning attack.

What the Ukrainian army says about the daring operation of its special forces

Kyiv security forces say that this night raid was actually a reconnaissance of Russian positions in Novaya Kakhovka, a city in the Kherson region that has been occupied by invasion forces since February last year, in the early days of the war unleashed by Volodymyr Maly.

The town of about 45,000 people drew attention last November when both sides accused each other of bombing a dam here days before the invasion forces withdrew from the west bank of the Dnieper.

Satellite photos taken immediately after the Russians left showed that parts of the north side of the dam and locks had been deliberately destroyed.

Returning to the mission captured on video, the Ukrainian armed forces say it was aimed at locating Russian positions on the other side of the Dnieper and destroying their command post, which they say was hit by grenade launchers during the operation.

“Regarding the landing as a breach of the defensive lines, the Russians immediately called in reserve forces – special forces, aviation, and armored vehicles – to help. Thanks to this, the reconnaissance group received reliable information about the number, number and location of the enemy’s reserves,” the military command in Kyiv said in a statement.

It is also claimed that before the retreat across the Dnipro, the GUR fighters destroyed 12 Russian defenders and an armored personnel carrier. Drone footage shows destroyed Russian positions:
