The Estonian ambassador was expelled by the Russian government according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to the ministry, Estonian Ambassador Margus Leidre has been ordered to leave the country by 7 February.
The report says that Russia is reducing its diplomatic mission in Estonia to the level of charge d’affaires.
The ministry said the move was in response to “a new unfriendly move by Estonia to drastically reduce the number of employees at the Russian embassy in Tallinn.”
“In recent years, the Estonian leadership has deliberately destroyed the entire spectrum of relations with Russia. Absolute Russophobia, inciting hostility towards our country has reached the level of state policy, ”the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
