
Police responded to a shooting incident in Monterey Park, California on Saturday night (local time), according to the LA Times on its website.
The incident took place last night after 10:00 pm (local time, 08:00 am Greek time) in an area where a Chinese New Year celebration was taking place in Monterey Park, Los Angeles County.
At the moment, not much information is known about either the incident or the number of victims.
Tens of thousands of people gathered in the area yesterday to attend the two-day Chinese New Year celebration. A local resident said he believed the shooting started after the festival ended.
Videos posted on social media show police and firefighters rushing to the scene and providing first aid to the victims.
The wounded were taken to various hospitals in the area, and it is not known if the perpetrator was apprehended.
Monterey Park is located approximately 7 miles from downtown Los Angeles.
