Russia announced today that it is conducting air defense exercises in the Moscow region to protect its infrastructure in the event of “air attacks” amid the conflict in Ukraine.
“In the Moscow region, exercises were held with the personnel of the anti-aircraft missile brigade of the Western Military District to repel air strikes on important military, industrial and administrative facilities,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, Russian soldiers attending these gymnasiums were trained to handle “S-300 anti-aircraft missiles.”
In total, “more than 150 military personnel and more than 30 pieces of weapons, military equipment and special equipment” took part in the exercises, the same source said, without specifying when the exercises took place.

The Russian armed forces today also announced they were conducting “offensive operations” in the Zaporozhye region, in southern Ukraine, which allowed them to take “advantageous positions.”
“In the direction of Zaporozhye, as a result of offensive actions, units of the Eastern Military District took more advantageous positions,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement, but did not specify details.
