NATO: Each country “decides for itself” whether to give tanks to Ukraine

OUR Germany and other countries that support it Ukraine in her attempt to reflect her Russian invasion should decide individually whether to supply Kyiv with heavy tanks, the chairman of the Military Council of the Netherlands said today NATOAdmiral Rob Bauer.

Earlier today, at a summit of Ukraine’s Western allies at Ramstein Air Base, no agreement was reached on the supply of German Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. However, Poland’s defense minister expressed optimism that the countries’ efforts would eventually bear fruit.

“This is a sovereign decision by a sovereign state like Germany,” Bauer, from Lisbon, told a press conference. He added that it is equally important to discuss the delivery of other weapons systems requested by Ukraine. “Now donating ammunition costs money, but the price for all of us will be higher if Russia wins the war in Ukraine… We need to seriously look at what Ukraine is asking for and, if possible, give them what they are. asking,” he continued, adding that it had to be done “on time”.

Bauer also told reporters that the war was not going well for Moscow because “so far none of its strategic goals have been achieved.”

Zelensky: The only solution is to send tanks

For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has calculated that “there is no other solution” than to send heavy tanks from the West to his country.

“Yes, we will have to fight for the supply of modern tanks, but every day we make it clear that there is no other decision than to decide on tanks,” Zelensky said in his videotaped speech at night.

“Ukrainians will fight! With and without chariots. But every tank from Rammstein means that the lives of Ukrainians will be saved,” Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Veresuk wrote on Telegram.
