The BND intelligence service said in a secret meeting this week with a group of Bundestag lawmakers dealing with security issues that the Ukrainian army is losing three-digit numbers of soldiers every day, writes Spiegel. , referring to the information received.
The BND has warned that if Russian forces capture Bakhmut, it will have significant consequences as it will allow Russia to advance further. He also said that the Russian military is using its own soldiers as cannon fodder in Bakhmut, Spiegel adds.
Pro-Russian forces in eastern Ukraine said on Friday that Russia had taken control of the village of Klishchiivka, a small settlement south of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine.
“Starting from January 20, 2023, Russian troops liberated Klishchiivka on the territory of the DPR,” says the statement of the military command of the DPR, quoted by TASS, news.ro writes.
Klishchiivka, whose pre-war population was about 400, is located about 9 kilometers south of Bakhmut, where units of the Russian mercenary group Wagner have been fighting a grueling battle with Ukrainian forces for several months.
