
An explosion damaged a pipeline today natural gas The Amber Network, which connects the country to Latvia, has no casualties, the Lithuanian Gas Transportation Company said.
A video released by the Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT, as well as images released by the region’s mayor Gydautas Geguzinskas, show a fire raging at the site of the explosion in Panevėžys County in northern Lithuania.
According to LRT, the flames rose about 50 meters into the sky and were visible at a distance of at least 17 kilometers.
According to the latest information, the fire caused by the explosion is localized.
“We are investigating the cause of the explosion,” a spokesman for Amber Grid said.
The company said that according to initial estimates, it sees no malicious reasons for the explosion, but investigations will cover all possible scenarios.
There were no injuries or deaths, BNS added.
