Russian Commissioner for Human Rights Tetiana Moskalkova, subordinate to the Kremlin, said that she appealed to the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Shentop, with a request to stop the supply of weapons to Ukraine, reports TASS.
“I asked Mr. Shentop to stop the supply of weapons to Ukraine in order to avoid further escalation of this situation (without conflict),” Moskalkova said on her Telegram channel on Wednesday.
She also stated that during the meeting in Ankara with the Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinet and their colleague in Turkey, Sheref Malkoch, “very important words were said about the need for a ceasefire.”
“This is a necessary condition for preventing the violation of human rights, first of all, the right to life,” Moskalkova added, as the Kremlin complained on Tuesday that President Vladimir Putin’s “ceasefire” for the traditional Christmas was not accepted. Ukraine or its partners in the West have taken it seriously.
“I met a cynical reaction from Kyiv and a number of Western leaders. I repeat: it is cynical and incomprehensible,” Kremlin press secretary Dmytro Peskov said a day ago.
A new batch of Turkish Kirpi armored vehicles has arrived in Ukraine
Moskalkova’s comments on Wednesday came days after a new video was released on social media showing a convoy of Turkish 4×4 Kirpi armored vehicles on the streets of Ukraine, although it was unclear whether they were heading to the front.
Kirpi armored vehicles are of the MRAP type (mine-resistant armored car with ambush protection), have a typical weight of about 20 tons, are produced in 4×4 versions and can carry up to 13 passengers. Tanks can be armed with 7.62 or 12.7 mm machine guns and have STANAG 4569 level 3a protection.
This video appeared on social networks a few days after another, filmed in our country, recorded a train loaded with dozens of Kirpi armored vehicles passing through the Bacau railway station, most likely on its way to Ukraine.
Last summer, Ukraine already received a batch of 50 such cars, and Kyiv meanwhile expects delivery of another 150.
The Ukrainian military has already used the MRAP Kirpi on the front lines, several such vehicles have been recorded on video, where they act as infantry support during the offensive in the Kherson region.
The new comments from the Russian human rights commissioner came after a senior Turkish official said back in April last year that Russia had complained through diplomatic channels that Ukraine had received Bayraktar TB2 drones from Turkey.
