Two youths believed to be from the Dominican Republic were found dead inside the landing gear of an Avianca aircraft during maintenance at Bogota airport, company officials and prosecutors said. Colombia.

The plane was flying from Santiago, Chile. When he landed at Bogotá’s El Dorado Airport late Friday night, airline officials found two stowaways dead.

Avianca offered its condolences to the families of the two young people, adding that while it checks its aircraft before every flight, local authorities are responsible for airport security.

The victims were 15-20 years old. No passports or identification cards were found on them, but one of them had coins from the Dominican Republic, and they had documents from that country in their suitcase. This fact suggests that they may have been on the plane since 3 January, since that is when the particular aircraft last flew to the Dominican Republic.

The aircraft underwent scheduled maintenance on 27 December and subsequently flew to Bogota, Guarulhos (near São Paulo, Brazil) and Santiago.

Two bodies were frozen and one of them had burns.
