Ukraine revoked the press accreditation of the correspondent of the Danish public broadcaster Danmarks Radio, after Matilda Kimer, a well-known journalist, was accused of spreading Russian propaganda, DR reported on Tuesday, according to Reuters. Both the reporter and her employer deny the allegations.

Matilda Kimer, a well-known journalist who has written about Ukraine and Russia for DR since 2014, said that Ukraine initially revoked her accreditation in August.

At a December meeting in Kyiv, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) alleged that she was spreading Russian propaganda and that her social media posts appeared pro-Russian, Kimer told Reuters. According to her, the security service did not provide evidence of its accusations.

Neither the SBU nor the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine immediately responded to Reuters’ request for comment.

DR foreign policy magazine editor Niels Kvale called the allegations “completely undocumented and crazy,” while Kimer herself denied providing biased information.

“I was not engaged in propaganda. I work with one mission – to inform the Danes about what is happening in Ukraine,” Kimer said.

Kimer, 41, was also expelled from Russia in August amid Moscow’s crackdown on Western media following its February 24 invasion of Ukraine.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen told Reuters he would try to resolve the issue at a political level.

“I myself followed Matilda Kimer’s war reports with great interest. This is a journalist whose journalistic integrity, as far as I know, has not been called into question,” Rasmussen said.
