In the Belgorod region in the south of Russia near the border with Ukraine, one person was killed and five others were injured as a result of Ukrainian strikes on Sunday, the governor of the region reported.

“Our air defense system worked over Belgorod and the Belgorod region,” Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.

Belgorod is one of the regions in southern Russia where facilities such as fuel and ammunition depots have been hit by explosions since Moscow launched a “special military operation” in Ukraine.
