
Organization Islamic state claimed responsibility for the attack on a hotel frequented by Chinese businessmen in its downtown KabulThe jihadist organization announced this on its Telegram channel.
The gunmen opened fire today around 2:30 am local time inside the hotel, and at least three gunmen were killed by security forces.
The Kabul Emergency Hospital, run by an Italian non-profit organization, said it had received 21 casualties – 18 injured and three dead.
The group said the two members “attacked a large hotel frequented by Chinese diplomats and businessmen in Kabul, where they detonated two explosive devices hidden in two bags,” one intended for a party for Chinese guests and one for receiving guests.
One of the two gunmen threw grenades at Taliban officers who were trying to stop them, while the other started detonating explosive devices attached to the hotel room doors and firing at hotel guests, the Islamic State said in a statement.
