The Turkish company can send floating power plants to the Black Sea to supply Ukraine with up to 400 megawatts of electricity.
Relevant discussions are ongoing, Zeynep Kharezi, managing director of the Turkish company Karpowership, said in an interview with the Turkish Anadolu agency on Wednesday.
“We are negotiating about 300-400 MW of capacity. This capacity can provide electricity to one million households,” said Ms. Kharezi.
“We can send three or four ships to provide this production capability. What the technical and commercial details will look like, as well as how to secure them, remains to be agreed,” said the CEO of Karpowership.
“There are power lines between Romania, Moldova and Ukraine. We can place ships in Romania and Moldova and supply electricity via power lines to Ukraine,” Kharezi explained.
He also said that after the infrastructural problems caused by the war, the first request for the supply of ships came from the operator of the Ukrainian power transmission system Ukrenergo. He added that the UN was also informed about this plan for the necessary coordination of the operation.
