Baggage screeners at a U.S. airport were speechless when they saw on their screen that a live dog was in a passenger’s backpack, curled up but unharmed.
According to the US Transportation Security Administration, a dog was found inside the backpack, which the owner forgot inside, fortunately without injury.
The dog was safely removed from the backpack without further incident and its owner was handed over to authorities at the Madison, Wisconsin airport.
Dog accidentally sent through x-ray @MSN_Airport This week. If you are traveling with any animal, please inform your airline and check their policies. At the security checkpoint, remove your pet from the bag and have all items, including the empty carrier, checked in the car. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/JLOStCDsir

Regarding the incident, the US Transportation Security Administration kindly pointed out in their post that the animals are not … put in a bag, but declared to the airport authorities before the flight, so that they can guarantee their safety (i.e. pets, not authorities) as at the airport, as well as in flight.
Recall that last month at Kennedy Airport in New York, a live cat was found in a suitcase.
