Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday that the US is preparing to carry out a “new coup” or “palace coup” in Kyiv, TASS reports.
She stated this at a press conference during the official visit of US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland to Kyiv on Thursday.
“Its appearance in Ukraine in the current conditions, when disagreements regarding the distribution of Western aid are intensifying in Ukrainian government circles, is of course not accidental. Perhaps there will be a restart of a coup d’état or a coup d’état, some personnel reshuffles,” Zakharova said.
We will remind you that Russia claims that the Euromaidan revolution, which led to the escape of pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych from Ukraine in 2014, was actually a coup d’état organized by the West.
“I think that the Zelenskyi regime, which has tested Washington’s patience several times, has something to think about,” Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
She added that the US controls Ukraine, regardless of who is in power in Kyiv, and that it uses the country as a tool to advance its own geopolitical interests in the confrontation with Russia.
“And, of course, to implement their financial machinations,” she added.
The Russian Foreign Ministry is outraged that it is not participating in the investigation of the Nord Stream gas pipeline explosions
At the same press conference on Thursday, she accused Denmark and Sweden of refusing to include Russian authorities in the investigation into the explosions at the Nord Stream gas pipeline under the Baltic Sea at the end of September.
“Denmark and Sweden are afraid to allow Russia to participate in the investigation, because then the world will know who is responsible for the explosions,” said the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow.
Moscow has repeatedly asked to involve it in these investigations, a request that was rejected by the countries of Northern Europe due to Russian aggression in Ukraine and national security concerns.
Russia launched its own investigation into an “act of international sabotage” on September 28, later accusing Britain of blowing up two pipelines.
