
Climate activists poured paint over the entrance to Milan’s famed Scala theater shortly before the start of the season, local police said.
In recent months, activists have staged protests across Europe, including against museums and art, demanding stronger action to combat global warming.
The Ultima Generazione (“Last Generation”) movement claimed responsibility for the protests in Milan.
Last month, the same group doused soup on a Van Gogh painting in Rome, doused black liquid on a Klimt painting in Vienna, and doused Andy Warhol’s sports car on display in Milan with flour.
Police said they arrested five people after the incident at The Rock, and cleaners quickly removed the paint from the theater entrance.
