
The Free Syrian Army (FSA) launched an operation during which the leader of a jihadist organization was killed Islamic State (ISIS), Abu al-Hasan al-Hashemi al-Qurasi, said in a statement the joint command of the US armed forces in charge of the Middle East, known as CENTCOM.
According to the same source, the operation took place in the province of Daraa in southwestern Syria, and did not involve American troops.
“ISIS remains a threat to the region,” the statement stressed, noting that “CENTCOM and its partners remain focused on the goal of completely dismantling the Islamic State.”
