The governor of the Belgorod region in the west of Russia, Vyacheslav Gladkov, on Tuesday visited the defense line built on the border with Ukraine and published several photos of the construction works, TASS reports.
“The working day began with an inspection of the construction of the guard line with my deputy Volodymyr Bazarov,” Gladkov wrote in his Telegram channel. The head of the region published photos of the equipment that installs anti-tank barriers and digs ditches in various areas of the border zone with Ukraine.

For several months, Moscow television and propaganda media have consistently accused Ukrainian forces of bombing civilian objects in the Belgorod region, but this has not yet been independently confirmed.
But among the confirmed incidents is the one that happened on the night of September 7, when a powerful explosion occurred at an electrical substation in Belgorod, leaving half of the region without electricity. However, the Russian media at the time referred to an “accident” that the authorities are investigating.
But a month later there was another explosion, this time at a power plant, which the Russian authorities and Governor Gladkov attributed to a Ukrainian attack.
“Strange war” in Belgorod
The blast came just a day after a bizarre incident in Belgorod Oblast, when an unidentified projectile hit a residential building, which the Russians say was fired by Ukrainians, while Kyiv claims it was a Russian missile fired toward neighboring Kharkiv Oblast. .
The origin of the projectile has not been clarified by independent observers of the war even to this day.
Also, in the Belgorod region, there was a famous explosion at an ammunition warehouse, which Gladkov attributed to the “combat effect”.
“Due to the warm weather (the magnifier effect worked), ammunition spontaneously ignited in the area of the village of Tymonovo, which firefighters have not yet managed to neutralize,” he said on his page. Telegram channel on August 23.
It is not clear to what extent the defensive line being built in this region on the border with Ukraine is the result of genuine concern about a possible Ukrainian attack or is just part of Moscow’s propaganda efforts.
Judging by the photo, the construction is carried out by private developers, not the Russian army, although one of them shows the “dragon’s teeth” fortifications, which the Russians placed in several areas of the front in the territories occupied by Ukraine, most recently in Melit.
