Ukraine: More than 8,300 civilians have died in nine months

More than 8,300 civilians have died since the Russian army invaded Ukraine on February 24, Andriy Kostin, the country’s prosecutor general, said Sunday in Kyiv.

Among them are 437 children, Kostin said, according to the Ukrainian news agency UNIAN.

More than 11,000 civilians have been injured in the war, which will end this week in nine months.

According to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the number of victims is likely to be much higher, since the Ukrainian authorities do not have access to the territories held by the Russian military.

At least 16,295 civilians have died in the conflict, according to the latest UN estimates.

As of Sunday, Ukrainian authorities have recorded more than 45,000 war crimes and named 216 Russian military suspects, including 17 Russian prisoners of war. Ukrainian courts found 12 defendants guilty.
