The starting price is not low at all, it will start from 10,000 euros.
The author of the concept admits that the amount is large, but is convinced that there will be interested parties. Association “Kaputin” wants to transfer the proceeds for the purchase of weapons for the Ukrainian army and, in particular, wants to purchase a new combat drone “Bivoi” of Czech production.
How the idea of a sculpture with Putin on a golden toilet came about
Instead of a scepter, Putin holds a toilet brush in his right hand and a small, bloody washing machine in his left. The entire statue stands on a massive marble plinth with the inscription “Naked Assassins”.
The Kaputin Association, which is behind his creation and brings the statue to various demonstrations against Putin’s regime, says the statue exposes him in all his nakedness.
Putin’s mannequin first appeared in April 2021, when activists from the band krutin displayed it in front of the Russian embassy in Prague, the fence of which was also “decorated” with golden toilet brushes. At the time, they had no idea what 2022 would bring.
“The idea arose as a result of the investigation of Oleksiy Navalny’s opponent. He received very detailed information about Putin’s secret luxury palace, where, for example, a toilet brush cost 15 thousand euros. The toilet brush has become a symbol of resistance to the Putin regime, so we included it in our mannequin along with the golden toilet,” explains concept creator Otakar Van Gemund, how the idea came about.
The bloodstained washing machine in the left hand speaks of the thefts of the Russian occupiers, who often send various household appliances from the occupied territories of Ukraine to their families in Russia. Little Lukashenko, sitting on Putin’s lap, holds a hockey stick, which caricatures the two leaders of their regimes’ attempts to influence the public by appearing in hockey games where opponents let them win either on purpose or out of fear.
The entire installation is completed by a female body wrapped in plastic, which draws attention to the crimes of the Russian army against the Ukrainian population.
It shows what a ridiculous bastard Putin is and how fake his government is. This is a hint of the emperor’s new clothes, which shows that we do not need to fear Putin, that his power is fueled only by our fear. He is more vulnerable than it seems,” Otakar Van Gemund explained.
The author of the sculpture is Barbora Zikhova, who studied puppetry at the theater faculty of the Academy of Dramatic Art in Prague (DAMU). The sculpture is made by the lamination method, when the paper is glued together in layers using glue. The creation of the sculpture lasted two months.
