“What we see every day today is Russia raining missiles down on Ukraine in an effort to destroy its critical infrastructure, targeting Ukraine’s ability to keep it light, warm and a country to live in and move forward.” said the head of US diplomacy. .
“Ukraine has the right to defend itself and we are committed to supporting Ukraine,” he added.
Anthony Blinken reiterated that the US “does not see anything contradicting” the version put forward by Warsaw, according to which the missile was likely fired by the Ukrainian air defense system.
The foreign minister, who met with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba this afternoon, said Washington “continues to assess the situation and share new information” about the incident with Kyiv.
The US Secretary of State also said that the fact that Russia agreed to extend the Black Sea Grain Agreement shows that Moscow believes that the world will not accept any refusal to extend it.
Today the agreement on the export of grain from the Black Sea ports was extended.
“Together we have sent a clear signal to President Putin that he must extend the Black Sea Grain Initiative, which expires on Saturday,” Blinken said at a press conference in Bangkok.
“Russia again listened and, apparently, felt that the world would not accept Moscow’s refusal to extend the agreement.”
