Turkish authorities have fined Meta £346.7m (€18.58m) for violating competition law, Turkey’s competition commission has said.
According to the NTV news channel, the Turkish Antimonopoly Commission has ruled that Meta “combines data collected through Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, making it difficult for its competitors to be present in the social media and advertising market in the context of the Internet.”
The fine was determined based on the company’s annual revenue in 2021.
Recall that the Meta company was banned in Russia because it was described as extremist, and its subsidiaries were repeatedly fined in the European Union for violating competition.
