The Russians continue to retreat from Kherson, but their escape is hindered by shelling. Additionally, according to new footage shared on social media, several Russian soldiers appear to have overturned an armored personnel carrier they were trying to escape from.

The footage shows Russian soldiers yelling at each other to get into their armored vehicles as quickly as possible to flee, as well as hearing gunfire and shelling.

“We need to go to the APC, Ivan, take the tanks. Let’s go, guys,” says a Russian soldier as gunfire begins in the background.

Many rush to load weapons and tanks into transporters, then climb into the transport.

“F…-y!” the cameraman shouts when another round of fire is heard.

At some point, the Russian convoy leaves, but the car carrying the Russian cameraman goes off the road – then there is another “f..-ouch” – and then it seems to overturn. The Russian seems to be trapped under the armor, because screams can be heard.

According to Ukrainian officials, last week the Russian military began retreating from Kherson.

“They are moving their elite units and officers from the west bank, leaving only those who are mobilized and not in need,” Ukrainian army spokeswoman Nataliya Humeniuk said last Sunday.

The Institute for the Study of War reported last Saturday that the Russians began retreating from western Kherson Oblast. Russian forces likely intend to continue this withdrawal over the next few weeks, but may have difficulty withdrawing in an orderly manner if Ukrainian forces decide to attack, ISW explained at the time.
