Colonel-General Oleksandr Lapin, whom the leader of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov previously blamed for the loss of the Battle of Lyman, has been dismissed, Ukrainian Pravda and Meduza report.
On Saturday, Lapin’s release was reported by a number of Russian mass media, including the state television of Chechnya.
Recently, in early October, Lapin was criticized by the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, who called the general who lost Liman “mediocrity.”
According to Kadyrov, Lapin, who was in charge of this defense zone, did not provide the occupiers mobilized from Luhansk region with the necessary means and that he was “hiding” in Luhansk.
In the summer, President Vladimir Putin awarded Lapin the title of Hero of Russia. According to the leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, the name was related to the capture of Lysytsk, although Kadyrov said that “in reality it was not even close.”
However, Meduza emphasizes that there is no official confirmation of information about his dismissal.
