
At least two people died from cardiac arrest and dozens more were injured as a huge crowd surged into the central area of the capital. South Korea for Halloween celebrations late Saturday night (local time).
The incident took place in the Itegun area, said Moon Hin-woo, a National Fire Service official.

So far, two deaths have been reported among 24 people who were taken to nearby hospitals after cardiac arrest.
The death toll could rise as rescue efforts continue. Yonhap News Agency reported that at least 100 people were injured in the stampede.
A fire department spokesman said 140 ambulances arrived at the scene to provide first aid to the victims.
Photos posted by Yonhap show more than a dozen people lying on the street being helped by rescuers. Footage from social media shows rescuers and private individuals providing first aid at the scene.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol presided over an emergency meeting of top aides and ordered ambulance crews to arrive at the scene, his office said in a statement.
Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the incident, Yonhap said.
