According to Kyiv, the Russians may resort to shelling in Kherson in order to present them as the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

At the same time, according to the Russian-appointed deputy governor of the Kherson region, four people died when a Russian missile hit a ferry near the city of the same name.

“We expect challenges. In particular, about the shelling of Kherson by the Russians, when they say that they are being shelled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Sergei Danilov, deputy director of the Center for Middle East Studies, said.

According to him, the Russians seek to present the Armed Forces of Ukraine as enemies for the inhabitants of the region, presenting themselves as “defenders”. Faced with constant resistance from the local population, Russian intruders are looking for ways to win their loyalty.

As Mr. Danilov noted, the enemy will cling to the right bank of the Dnieper, so he continues to strengthen his local presence with equipment and ammunition.

The invaders will retreat only when a critical situation arises for them, and the Russian army is considering this option. “Then they react quite quickly, they exit very quickly,” the expert explains.

It depends on the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine when exactly the army of the Russian Federation leaves the right bank of the Kherson region, Mr. Danilov noted.

In Kherson, the Russians stepped up the process of “evacuating” the right bank of the Dnieper, transferring thousands of residents to the left, i.e. in the heart of an occupied city in southern Ukraine.

The Ukrainian chairman of the Kherson regional council Oleksandr Samoylenko condemned that in this way the Russian Federation is carrying out secret deportation of the inhabitants of the region.
