Police suspect that the fire that broke out on Wednesday night at a hotel for Ukrainian refugees in northeastern Germany was intentionally set for political reasons, Reuters reports.
Rostock police said on Thursday that 14 people, mostly Ukrainians, and three employees were inside the thatched and thatched Schaefereck Hotel when the fire broke out on Wednesday night, adding that no one was injured.
“At the moment, deliberate arson is suspected and political motivation is assumed,” the police said in a statement.
The fire broke out at 9:20 p.m. in a hotel near the coast of the Baltic Sea in the village of Gross Stroemkendorf, where Ukrainians fleeing the war have been hosted since April.
