With a week or so before the second round of Brazil’s presidential election – October 30 – the lead of centre-left former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva over outgoing far-right head of state Jair Bolsonaro has narrowed to 4 percentage points, leaving it to be understood that he may have to zero. indicates a survey by the reference institute Datafolha, published on Wednesday.
According to this poll, Lula is gaining 49% of the vote against 45% for Mr. Bolsonaro. In the previous Datafolia poll published five days ago, the former union leader was in the lead by 5 points (49-44%).
The margin of error of the poll is ±2%, which means that it cannot be ruled out that the far-right president has caught up with his predecessor (47%).
According to the Institute’s findings, 94% of Brazilians have already decided who they will vote for, so the percentage of undecided that the two rivals are trying to convince by continuing their intense campaigns is now low.
This is the first poll released since Sunday’s televised debate, in which the far-right president lashed out at his predecessor for corruption during the Workers’ Party (PT) rule.
The Datafolia poll was conducted from October 17 to 19 among a representative sample of 2,912 voters across the country.
