The vice-president of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, warned Israel not to take a “very reckless” step regarding the supply of weapons to Ukraine, Interfax reports.
“It seems that Israel supplies weapons to the Kyiv regime. A very careless step. This will destroy all interstate relations between our countries,” he wrote on his Telegram channel on Monday.
“I’m not talking about the fact that Bandera’s supporters were both Nazis and remained. Just look at the symbolism of their modern-day henchmen,” he added, referring to one of the favorite points of Russian propaganda that Ukrainians fighting against Russia are followers of the scandalous leader Stepan Bandera.
“If they are equipped with weapons, then it’s time for Israel to declare Bandera and Shukhevych its heroes…” he concluded. Roman Shukhevychy was a Ukrainian nationalist who collaborated with German forces and was involved in organizing the massacre of Poles in Volyn, a historic region in Western Ukraine, where around 100,000 people were killed between 1943 and 1944.
Medvedev’s comments on Monday came after Nachman Shai, Israel’s diaspora minister, said late last week that it was time for Israel to support Ukraine amid reports that Iran had reached an agreement with Moscow to send them missiles for a “special military operation”. , launched by Vladimir Putin on February 24.
The Israeli minister says that it is clear whose side Israel should be on in the war in Ukraine
“This morning it was reported that Iran is transferring ballistic missiles to Russia. There is no longer any doubt on whose side Israel should be in this bloody conflict. It’s time for Ukraine to also receive the military aid provided by the US and NATO countries,” wrote Nahmani Shai on his Twitter page.
Journalists of The Washington Post wrote a day ago, citing representatives of the security of the United States and allies, that Tehran is preparing to secretly send Russia not only attack drones, as it was until now, but also ballistic missiles.
The Iranian military is said to be preparing the first batch of Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar missiles, two of Iran’s well-known short-range ballistic missiles capable of hitting targets at distances of 300 and 700 kilometers, respectively.
On Monday, Iran denied the reports, saying it had not even sent drones to the Russian armed forces, despite numerous photos and videos appearing on social media to prove it.
